FASHIONABLE TECHNOLOGY: SUSTAINABLE RESOURCES AND RENEWABLE ENERGY IN ADDRESSING ANTI-SPECTACLE IN FASHION

For my senior project, I became interested in addressing the global problem of sustainability through the fashion collection. I wanted to go beyond the traditional approach to fashion and sustainability through the focus on sustainable organic materials such as hemp and bamboo, to instead create a collection that would address energy resource needs such as electricity and food production. I investigated different types of technologies and applications that currently existed and are soon to be created that could be used to promote a more sustainable and useful application to fashion. I am applying existing existing or soon to be developed technologies that address practical needs in clothing and contemporary society to illustrate how easily people can change their clothing lifestyles to be more sustainable and energy efficient. One of the biggest problems with sustainable design right now is that most companies taking action towards more sustainable decisions are doing so independently, and with no real input from anyone else involved. Instead, I created a collection that works cohesively with people's lifestyles as they already exist.
