Lauren Ancona is a Data Scientist in the City of Philadelphia’s Office of Information and Technology. She was formerly Assistant Director of the Corzo Center for the Creative Economy at University of the Arts. Educated as a classical musician (percussion and conducting), she spent 9 years as a nonprofit administrator, where she developed digital and print marketing campaigns for Opera Philadelphia, St. Francis Hospital, Delaware Symphony Orchestra, and Longwood Gardens.
Early in her career she was drawn to data-driven marketing strategy, and has extensive experience crafting advanced implementations of Google Analytics - specifically for eCommerce and SaaS companies. This data obsession led to an interest in civic hacking, open data, and online mapping/GIS. Lauren is an active member of Code for America’s Philadelphia Brigade, Code for Philly, MaptimePHL, and is an avid surfer. Current projects include blueprintmap.org and parkadelphia.org.
