Stephen Megargee is currently the managing director of Aquent Studios, where he leads a large team that meets design and project management needs at Merck Pharmaceuticals.
Steve stumbled haphazardly into his career and was soon designing graphics for Swatch Watch, Michael Jackson, Metallica and Pink Floyd, to name only a few of many pop artists. Too soon after learning how to write HTML code, he was swept up in the dot-com boom when recruited by CDnow, as a creative director.
He has directed various agency and in-house creative groups, overseeing efforts from the re-design of irs.gov, to pharmaceutical marketing sites, to the interface of software that tracks “space junk” and a global religion’s administrative intranet— the deadline for which was driven by the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. Steve has spent the last seventeen years on a mission to help designers achieve equality with and for whom they work.
This site covers my work from 1981 to 2004. For 16 of those years, I was a designer.
My LinkedIn profile covers my work from 1997 to 2014 – and is a better view into my work as a manager. Together, these sites span my 33-year design career.
