Individual tutorial sessions

1.      Read Dialogue 2 (TB pp. 149-150, pinyin or character version)

2.      Answer questions related to the contents of Dialogue 2.

3.      Prepare a short narrative (5-7 sentences), which should include the following information:

a)      What did you do last weekend (list at least 2 activities)?

b)      Where did you do these activities?

c)      What did you eat or drink, and how much (几杯/ etc.) if applicable.

d)     Whom did you do these activities with ( X 一起…)?

   Use the “Narrative” in L5 (p.125) as a model.

4.      Be ready to answer questions related to the contents of your narrative.

Individual tutorial sessions

1.     Read Dialogue 2 (TB p. 150, character version)

2.     Have a spontaneous phone conversation with your oral tutorial 老师:

a.          Pretend your oral tutorial 老师 is a friend of yours, call and ask him/her to help you practice speaking Chinese over the weekend because you have a Chinese test next Monday. You also have a few questions that you want to ask your friend. Remember that you are asking a favor, not making a demand. Even though you are calling a friend, it’s still important to be polite.

b.        Offer to treat your friend to dinner or a drink afterwards.

c.        Propose a time to meet. Be flexible and be willing to compromise.

d.       Decide a place to meet.

3.     Be prepared to answer some questions related to Lesson 6.
