Homework Assignment #3
- Chapter 5.6, exercise 8, 12, 16, 31.
- Chapter 5.7, exercise 3, 11, 26, 29, 30.
- Chapter 5.3, exercise 43. Note: The two cone-like parts at the ends of the solid are part of the volume. Use Maple to draw a 3-D plot of the solid of revolution showing the curve y=sin(x) and the line y=c, as in picture 5.26. You can adapt last week's Maple worksheet to produce the plot.
- Essay question: Explain Cavalieri's Theorem using only words (no formulae or pictures allowed). Length is up to you, please try to stay under 1 page.
- We are now finished with Chapter 5. Reread everything carefully and memorize the area/volume/length integral formulae. Ask in the recitation if you have any questions! (not to be turned in).
