Poficiency Test Dates
Proficiency Exams for language requirement purpose are held once
a semester in November and April. For exact dates, please contact
the teacher in charge of the language or to SASt Language Coordinator,

About the Test
You will be tested for all the four language skills - speaking, listening,
reading and writing.
SPEAKING: There will be a 15 to 20 minutes of a face-to-face oral
interview involving lingusitic fucntions such as question-answer,
description, narration, comparison and opinion.
LISTENING: There will be multiple choice and open-ended questions
testing your comprehension of main ideas and details of recorded native
speech such as conversations, announcements, news broadcasts.
READING: There will be multiple choice and open-ended questions testing
your comprehension of main ideas and details of authentic written
materials such personal letters, short stories and news articles.
WRITING: You will be asked to write 2 or 3 paragraphs of guided or
free composition on a topic familiar to you written during the course
of an hour.
