Lecturer & Advisor, Master of Environmental Studies
Hagan retired from the UK-based pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) in 2010 as the Vice President of Sustainability & Environment. In this position, Hagan was responsible for setting the direction for environmental sustainability at GSK and the provision of environmental governance and support to all operations. Prior to joining GSK in 1983, Hagan worked in the chemical industry and the US Environmental Protection Agency on environmental issues in the areas of research, design and construction.
Hagan holds a BS in chemical engineering, MS degrees in Environment Health Engineering and Management Sciences, and a PhD in Environmental Engineering with a minor in Environmental Planning and Management. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania and Maryland, as well as being board certified in Environmental Engineering.
Hagan is also the President of Sustainability at Industrial Ecology Solutions, LLC, a consulting firm dedicated to supporting industry in finding cost savings by exploring and implementing efficient process and sustainable resource alternatives.
