Professor Eric Kandel
Columbia University
Annenberg 110, 3620 Walnut Street
In this talk, he explores his career in brain science and its connection to art through the lens of autobiography; he also reflects on how Jewishness has shaped his life as a scientist and a thinker. His recent book Reductionism in Art and Brain Science—Bridging the Two Worlds is one of several in which he finds common ground between neuroscience and humanistic questions. Eric Kandel has built his career on making connections-- between the sciences and the arts, and now, in this lecture at Penn, between his Viennese childhood and his American achievements.
