Ali Noori received his Bachelor's in Philosophy and Near Eastern Intellectual History from the City University of New York Baccalaureate for Unique and Interdisciplinary Studies, where he studied sources of early Islamic philosophy and the evolving authority of Greek philosophers therein.  His honors thesis was titled: “Ibn Sīnā’s Adaptation of Aristotle’s Active Intellect: Paving the Way for Philosophical Sufism.” 

Research and Teaching Interests: 

Ali is interested in the intellectual history of the medieval Islamicate world. His current project focuses on the intersection of mysticism and philosophy— and the archetype of the philosopher-poet— especially as manifested in the Sufi poetry of the Medieval Persianate world.
