Students can also experience college life on Penn’s historic campus and explore the vibrant city of Philadelphia.

If you attend a School District of Philadelphia public or charter high school, you may be eligible to attend Penn Summer Prep free of charge with a Penn Summer Scholarship.

The Penn Summer Prep Program offers a diverse array of rigorous and immersive modules taught at the undergraduate level for talented and driven high school students from around the world. All modules are taught by Penn instructors and are offered on a non-credit basis, allowing students to focus on exploring their passions rather than obtaining a grade. Within these preparatory modules, students gain an in-depth understanding of interdisciplinary topics and engage as critical thinkers and global citizens. We help participants hone the analytical skills necessary for sustained academic growth.

Each student enrolls in two modules within Session A (classes meet July 8 – July 18) or Session B (classes meet July 22 – August 1). Module topics are carefully chosen from across the disciplines to represent the breadth and depth of Penn’s undergraduate curriculum. Each module meets for two-and-a-half hours daily, with one module meeting in the morning and the second meeting in the afternoon. Module instructors may assign nightly readings, writing assignments or group work; students should be prepared to dedicate time to coursework outside of the classroom. View a sample student schedule.

Upon successful completion of the program, students are awarded a Certificate of Completion and may request letters of recommendation from their Penn instructors.

Explore a new topic of interest, dive into an old favorite or learn a new skill this summer within a Penn Summer module. Once admitted into the Penn Summer Prep Program students work with a Penn advisor to select two modules within Session A or Session B. Each student must select one morning module and one afternoon module from the same session.

Module topics range from creative writing and media to environmental science and mathematics.
