Penn's Coronavirus COVID-19 Page
As of March 12, 2020, Penn Summer Sessions are scheduled to run as planned. The situation with the Coronavirus (COVID-19) is fluid and being monitored closely. Please check back periodically for updates. Should there be any changes to the policy that impacts our decision to hold courses this summer, we are committed to providing timely updates via email. Should any of these programs be cancelled, students will receive a full refund of program fees at that time.

Our campus task force is monitoring the situation daily and making active decisions as we receive new information. Our number one priority is the health and safety of our campus community. You can stay updated with all developments on Penn’s special coronavirus webpage.

The Penn Summer Prep Program allows ambitious students to enroll in two undergraduate-level modules from across disciplines while benefiting from the rich educational resources of the University. Students can also experience college life on Penn’s historic campus and explore the vibrant city of Philadelphia.

If you attend a School District of Philadelphia public or charter high school, you may be eligible to attend Penn Summer Prep free of charge with a Penn Summer Scholarship.

Choose from a variety of modules: The Penn Summer Prep Program offers a diverse range of exciting, immersive modules on topics such as environmental science, mathematics, creative writing, and media. Taught by Penn instructors, modules are carefully chosen to represent the breadth and depth of Penn’s undergraduate curriculum. All modules are offered on a non-credit basis, allowing students to focus on exploring their passions rather than obtaining a grade. Dive deeper into your favorite subject, cultivate a new interest, or learn a new skill this summer. View recent or upcoming topics on the Modules page.

Work with an advisor to set your summer schedule: Once admitted into the Penn Summer Prep Program, students work with a Penn advisor to select two modules within Session A, Session B, or both sessions. Each student must select one morning module and one afternoon module from the same session. In addition to class time, students should be prepared to complete readings, group activities, or other coursework outside of the classroom. View a sample student schedule.

Set yourself up for success: Modules are designed to engage students as critical thinkers and global citizens, and to hone analytical skills necessary for sustained academic growth. Upon successful completion of the program, students are awarded a Certificate of Completion and may request letters of recommendation from their Penn instructors.
