Penn's Coronavirus COVID-19 Page
As of March 12, 2020, Penn Summer Sessions are scheduled to run as planned. The situation with the Coronavirus (COVID-19) is fluid and being monitored closely. Please check back periodically for updates. Should there be any changes to the policy that impacts our decision to hold courses this summer, we are committed to providing timely updates via email. Should any of these programs be cancelled, students will receive a full refund of program fees at that time.

Our campus task force is monitoring the situation daily and making active decisions as we receive new information. Our number one priority is the health and safety of our campus community. You can stay updated with all developments on Penn’s special coronavirus webpage.

Tuition & Fees

You are here

Your tuition at Penn is based on the program you choose and the number of course units (c.u.)* for which you register. Some programs have an additional program fee, which is added to your tuition.

The list of links below will direct you to individual Penn Summer program tuition and fees information.

Full-time Penn students

Check with your home school advisor regarding your selection process and tuition charges, as these may vary based on the school where you are currently enrolled. To register for Penn Summer On-Campus courses, use Penn InTouch. No application or enrollment form is needed.

Tuition information

Tuition is set by the individual schools at Penn. To identify the school offering a course, please refer to the "Primary Program" listing in the courses section.

An auditor is any individual officially enrolling in a course and not receiving a letter grade or credit. Auditors pay the same tuition and fees as students taking a course for credit.

Penn.Pay is Penn’s electronic billing service through which you receive a student account bill. You can also review new activity on a daily basis and opt to pay your bills online, securely and efficiently. For parents or other third parties to access Penn.Pay, you (the student) must invite them to be ‘other payers’. You will receive an email notification each month when a new billing statement is available on Penn.Pay.

Please note: All tuition and fee charges are subject to the approval of the Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania and may change without notice.

*Academic credit is defined by the University of Pennsylvania as a course unit (c.u.). A course unit (c.u.) is a general measure of academic work over a period of time, typically a term (semester or summer). A c.u. (or a fraction of a c.u.) represents different types of academic work across different types of academic programs and is the basic unit of progress toward a degree. One c.u. is usually converted to a four-semester-hour course.
