Since the work is not an etymological or historical dictionary, we concentrate primarily on modern materials. We consult monolingual dictionaries, bilingual dictionaries, and spoken materials such as radio plays, McAlpin's frequency list of spoken Tamil usage, and other more modern reference works (of which there are admittedly very few, ipso facto a justification for the need for this dictionary).
