Congratulations to Shelley Zhang for receiving SSHRC Fellowship!
Shelley Zhang is a 2017-2020 SSHRC Doctoral Fellowship recipient. The most prestigious prize in Canada, the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) Doctoral Fellowship is a national award that supports students who demonstrate outstanding research potential and scholarly achievement. SSHRC recipients are selected through a highly competitive, multi-stage process. As a result of this prize, the University of Pennsylvania has awarded Shelley sixth year funding.

Juan has received a SAS Hopkinson Fellowship for AY 17-18 in recognition of his superlative academic performance in our graduate program.
Juan Castrillon, (Ph.D. candidate in Ethnomusicology) University of Pennsylvania publishes
paper co-authored with Jonathan Hill in Oído Pensante, Sound Studies journal in South America. "Narrativity in Sound: A Sound-Centered Approach to Indigenous Amazonian Ways of Managing Relations of Alterity".
Tristan Pare-Morin, Ph.d. Candidate in Musicology, awarded
one of the 18 grants by the distinguished Chateaubriand fellowship program. The Chateaubriand Fellowship in Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) targets outstanding Ph.D. students from American universities who seek to engage in research in France, in any discipline of the Humanities and Social Sciences. This fellowship is offered by the Cultural Services of the Embassy of France. HSS Chateaubriand fellows are selected through a merit-based competition, using a binational collaborative process involving expert evaluators from both countries.

In addition to Matthew Clayton on alto saxophone, we have Justin Sekelewski on bass and Khary Shaheed on drums. The music also features the first official release of a Clayton original composition: "Matthew's Groove"!
