The Global Discovery Lecture Series lets you explore the world virtually, both far and near, with Penn faculty members and your fellow alumni community. Each live, interactive lecture features Penn professors sharing new and innovative research on a variety of topics. Participants will have the opportunity to ask in-depth questions and are sure to learn something new in each one hour session.
Join editor and Penn Professor Emeritus Daniel K. Richter in a discussion about the new book, Philadelphia Stories: People and Their Places in Early America, written by the late C. Dallett Hemphill. Looking beyond the famed founders, this book chronicles the lives of 12 Philadelphians from the colonial era to the years before the Civil War. This collective portrait includes men and women, Black and white Americans, immigrants and native born, examining their rich lives as well as those of others who shaped the city’s past.
Three copies of the book will be raffled at the end of the talk.
This event is co-sponsored by Penn Press.
