Mutz Elected to National Academy of Sciences

Diana C. Mutz, Samuel A. Stouffer Professor of Political Science and Communication, has been elected to the National Academy of Sciences (NAS). Mutz is also the Director of the Institute for the Study of Citizens and Politics at the Annenberg School for Communication. She and three other Penn faculty are among 120 members and 30 international members elected to NAS this year for their distinguished and continuing achievements in original research,

Mutz studies political communication, political psychology, and public opinion. Her most recent book, In-Your-Face Politics: The Consequences of Uncivil Media, was published in 2015. She received the Lifetime Career Achievement Award in Political Communication from the American Political Science Association in 2011 and was inducted as a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2008.
